Dr. Curran Prendergast

Special thanks to Dr. Curran Prendergast for his supervision of this recital, his guidance though this Master's program, and his mentorship since 2014, when we both started our first year at Truman six years ago.

Dr. Victor Marquez-Barrios

"We aren't composers because we want to be, we are composers because we have to be".

Without Dr. Marquez's mentorship, it is very unlikely I would have been bold enough to pursue a degree in composition, and may have moved on to studying a field entirely separate from music. I can not fully express my gratitude for his guidance over the years, and can not thank him enough for allowing me to work with Uncommon Practice these past few months as we prepared Stravinsky's Octet for winds.

Dr. Xin Gao

Although I have never formally studied under Dr. Gao, I have deeply valued our collaborations over the past two years. I had the pleasure of working with him and his studio as a conductor in the fall of 2018 in preparation for performance at the inaugural concert of the Single Reed Summit, and worked with him and many of his students on original compositions for the saxophone family. I am forever indebted to him for allowing me to work with his studio to put together Love's Three Images for Saxophone Octet for this recital, and for his willingness to lend is mastery in the form of playing on the piece himself.

David, Karen, & Kara Rieger

"Are you sure that [music] isn't what you want to go into?"

I would be absolutely nowhere without the support of my family. Thank you for keeping me level headed, and knowing when to push me out of my comfort zone. I love you.
